Following the Government’s commitment to supporting three million Apprenticeships by 2020 and the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy in 2017 we have been refining our investment and business strategy and reshaping our skills division ensuring that we have an operation with the products, services and personnel to deliver high quality, competitive and bespoke services to businesses across the UK.  As a result of this expansion, we are now investing significantly in our skills delivery function, and we need innovative, driven and passionate individuals to help us do this.
We are now recruiting for a Functional Skills Specialist who will manage the delivery of high quality teaching, learning and assessment of Functional Skills (English, Maths and ICT). You will also be responsible for ensuring that Leaners have the knowledge required to pass their Functional Skills tests to enable timely successful completion of their Apprenticeship.
Our ideal candidate will have a relevant teaching qualification such as Cert Ed/PGCE/DTLLS or equivalent. You will also need to have experience of working without supervision, and the ability to lead and organise others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach, guide and support learners and their employers in the effective achievement of the Functional Skills Individual Learning Programme and progression planning in a classroom or work based environment.
  • Negotiate, design and implement an Individual Learning Plan with each learner.
  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to prepare and support employer-led Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment.
  • Support transition activities for learners moving to higher level Apprenticeships or on to Further Education
  • Support Business Development and Sales objectives by securing new Traineeship, Apprenticeship and commercial opportunities.
  • Ensure all learner records and reporting are kept up to date and provided in a timely manner to support management reporting and audit requirements
  • Evaluate the learner experience to ensure high quality provision delivered. Work within the company’s quality framework, and ensuring services delivered are in accordance to the Awarding Bodies standards.
  • Maintain a professional and positive working relationship with learners and customers and continually strive to exceed customer expectations.
  • Actively participate and contribute to standardisation and team meetings.
  • Actively participate in, and promote Prevent and the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Skills and Experience

Essential:
  • Cert Ed/PGCE/DTLLS or equivalent
  • Achieved L2 Functional Skills in English/Maths and ICT
  • Experience teaching Maths and English to a minimum L2 standard
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent ICT skills
  • Driving licence and access to own car
Desirable:
  • Experience of working with adult learners
  • Achieved or working towards Level 4/5 subject specialist
  • An advanced qualification in Literacy or Numeracy

Additional Information

Salary £24,325 – £28,625 per annum.
