Job Role

Are you an experienced Tutor with a background in engaging and empowering young people? Can you help learners take actions toward social independence, further training/employment and facilitate their personal, social and educational development? Do you possess a real passion and have the skills for helping young people reach their full potential through tutoring, coaching and mentoring?
If so, this is an exciting opportunity for an engaging and motivating Tutor to join our team. You will be responsible for delivering employability / vocational courses in: IT, Hospitality, Retail, Digital Marketing and Customer Service to young people who are from 16 -24. You will also be required to deliver and teach Functional Skills to young people in order to provide them with the necessary skills to prepare them for life and work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver accredited employability and vocational programmes, across a range of vocational subject areas.
  • Facilitate the personal, social and educational development of young people.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team in the delivery of our Traineeship programme with young people.
  • Gain learner feedback, through various methods, both whilst learner is on programme and upon completion.
  • Assist in the recruitment, induction and assessment of learners.
  • Contribute to the development of learning materials, as appropriate and liaise with relevant departments, particularly the Internal Quality Assurer and Lead Quality Assurer to establish appropriate curriculum resources.
  • Share best practice amongst other Tutors.
  • Actively participate in relevant staff training and development opportunities including unit based training as appropriate.
  • Be involved with the design, delivery, evaluation and promotion of my client’s Skills’s provision.
  • Carry out other such duties as may be reasonably required by the organisation.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Level 3 professional teaching qualification (PTLLS  teaching qualification or equivalent)
  • L2 Functional Skills.
  • Relevant experience of coaching and mentoring young people in groups and on a one to one basis.
  • Retail, Customer Service and Digital Marketing/IT vocational experience.
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Website Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress/ Wix)
  • Audio and Video software (e.g. Audacity/ Moviemaker)
  • Image Manipulation Software (e.g. GIMP/ Photoshop)
  • Social Media Platforms for businesses.
  • Assessor qualification (CAVA/ TAQA or equivalent)
  • Experience in engaging, motivating and empowering young people in a teaching and learning environment.
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach with a “can do” attitude.
  • Awareness of issues and barriers affecting young people.
  • Experience of working with young people in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of good learner retention, achievement and progression in previous roles.
  • A genuine commitment to the personal and occupational success of young people.

Additional Information

Salary £24,325 – £28,625
You will be required to work in and around the area in which this role is based.
An enhanced DBS (formally known as a CRB disclosure) and a Children’s and Adults barred list check will be required for this role.
